The project
The clients wanted a summer house that stays cool without air conditioning and opens completely to the garden.
We stacked two white volumes and pushed the upper one forward to shade the terrace and the living room. Deep overhangs and cross ventilation keep the rooms cool through August; in winter the low sun reaches the back walls.
Inside, the palette is short: lime plaster, pale oak and local stone. Bedrooms face the hills, the living room faces the water, and every room has a door to the outside.
